MMMAPA is a multidisciplinary team dedicated to research, consultancy, intervention, and communication across various media, ecosystems, and scales. We work with tools related to Geographic Information Systems, ecosystem restoration, anthropology, communication, planning, and development cooperation, among others. /p>
We believe that every socio-environmental context involves complex relational aspects that cannot and should not be addressed from a single theoretical framework. Therefore, our goal is to make dialogue and complementarity between disciplines the starting point for understanding the areas we work on.
Our team consists of:

Irene Iglesias Román (1988) is an urban architect from ETSAM and a graphic design technician. Her professional experience combines architectural practice, focused on public space, with the development of urban green infrastructure plans and the creation and representation of indicators for monitoring and evaluation. She combines her expertise in urban Nature-Based Solutions with a strong interest in illustration and art history.

Ion Fernández de las Heras (1987) is an urban architect (ETSAB/UPC, 2013), a social anthropologist (PPGAS/UFScar, 2016), and holds a PhD in history and archaeology (UCM, 2020). His academic and professional activity, spanning Brazil and Spain, has focused on issues related to territoriality and the processes of heritage-making in nature and culture, as well as methodological concerns linked to data visualisation.

Lucía Corral Partearroyo (1988) is an urban architect (ETSAM) who works on projects related to improving public spaces and urban mobility through participatory processes. She has been involved in the development of Sustainable Mobility Plans in several Spanish cities and the implementation of School Pathway initiatives in the Madrid Region. Internationally, she has collaborated on urban planning projects in Mozambique, Tanzania, and Somalia.
María Núñez Rodríguez (1989) is an urban architect (ETSAM) with a master’s degree in ecosystem restoration. Her professional experience focuses on developing projects that integrate ecological principles into urban and territorial planning and design. She is an expert in urban Nature-Based Solutions and has worked at DG Environment at the European Commission and collaborated on projects with UN-Habitat.
We also collaborate with:
Alberto Martín Sánchez (1989) is an agricultural engineer (ETSIA, 2014) specialising in environmental and territorial planning, with a master’s degree in Geographic Information Technologies. His work as a GIS analyst focuses on thematic cartography, remote sensing, and the management of meteorological and climatic risks.
Anja Thomsen (1992) is a geographer specialising in physical geography (JGU Mainz, Germany) and holds a master’s degree in Ecosystem Restoration (UAH). Her professional experience lies mainly in various institutions and organisations related to the environment and the mitigation of human impact—such as CEDEX, ARBA, and currently, Conama. Her field of study and work focuses specifically on climate change adaptation, coastal risks, and river restoration.
Flavia Canelo (1980) is a social anthropologist (UBA) whose professional practice centres on the study and research of complex problems aimed at strategic decision-making in innovation processes. Her career has focused on the intersection of social practices and new media technologies for transformative, developmental, and sustainable solutions. In addition to employing quantitative and qualitative methods from the social and human sciences, her approach integrates strategic and participatory design methodologies, foresight, systems thinking, and computational social sciences.
Alba Bernabé Presencio (1999) studied Philosophy (UCM) and completed a master’s degree in Urban Studies (U.Nova, Lisbon). She has participated in research projects at centres such as Dinâmia’cet, Cis.Nova, and CiTUA, based in Lisbon (Portugal).
